One Time Spaceman Moon River Cabernet

The Treasure Hunter and his pals at the Three Finger Wine Co. have a special fondness for Paso Robles, so they bottle their favorite Paso finds under the One X Spaceman label. The latest is the Moon River Cabernet Sauvignon, which Hunter says the original winery sells for $75 (but of course he can't tell us who that is).
Not only does Hunter have a great palate and a talent for finding fantastic deals, he also has a great sense of humor and writes some of the best tasting notes in the business. So as usual, I'll let him take over from here:
"The Westside of Paso Robles is home to an appellation called, The Adelaida District. From this slice of heaven comes some of the densest and most lip-smacking wines on the planet. We haven’t released a new Spaceman for light-years, but this wine will make all that waiting well worth it. This wine is a Neutron Star of “hug your loved ones” and bow down to greatness.
Iridescent purples, blues, and reds flash like a raven’s wing warning the senses of what is about to be unleashed upon them. Lush and dense with aromas of black cherry, warm strawberry pie, and a Carolina smokehouse explode from the glass. The intensity and decadence of the flavors are defined mostly by baked blackberry, caramel, and spice cake but the classic black-currant, violet, espresso, and milk chocolate shine brighter than quasar 3C 273 in the constellation of Virgo as well. Look it up!

This vintage displays a wide array of bramble fruit aromatics ranging from blackberry to ripe raspberry. A hint of strawberry preserves leads into an intriguing layer of exotic spice. The palate is round and displays rich secondary flavors of boysenberry and pomegranate that exits with a silky, lingering finish and a lively burst of fresh fruits.

One of California’s first sheriffs, Agoston Haraszthy was elected Sheriff of San Diego County in 1850. He built the first jail and served two colorful years before moving north to pursue “purple gold” – the perfect terroir for fine wines. He found it in Sonoma County where he established Buena Vista Winery in 1857. Our wine honors his pioneering legacy in law enforcement and winegrowing, as well as all of those individuals who protect and serve our communities.
We wanted to create a wine that would be representative not only of The Count of Buena Vista’s role as the first sheriff in San Diego County, but that would be worthy of every sheriff in America today. This powerful wine is brimming with personality. It’s authoritative and loyal, a bold combination of Cabernet, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Grenache. Like the men and women who are elected to serve their counties, this wine has a robust magnetism that commands a room (or dinner table) and bridges the gap between traditional and extraordinary.

Tasting Notes: Juicy aromas of strawberry jam, raspberry, and red plum jump out of the glass, with a light framing of toasty vanilla oak. The lush mouth is soft and inviting, with layers of ripe berries and red cherry, with the spiciness of a drippingly sweet black mission fig and just the right amount of oak for framing.
